II Pause... > Play !!

A couple of projects were on Pause while I waited for our next trip to town, which occurred Saturday, where our Post Office box was bursting with these bundles of beauty...PLAY!

From Southern Fabric:
Honey Honey on sale for $3.30 per half yard!!  The perfect blue, for binding, and the aqua florette because I love it the most!
I will hand stitch to the back this evening! I absolutely love this line and have enjoyed every second of making this!

From Missouri Star Quilt Co.
will these not make the sweetest "get well" quilt ever?!
The 30s solids charm pack was a "Deal of the Day" $1.00!
And if you don't know this about the 30s colors already (I didn't until I handled it in person):
There are 5 basic colors, with 2 tones of each, a lighter and a slightly darker of:
5 each of yellow, 4 each of lavender, pink, green and blue

They are really wonderfully perfect with the Posy (!), which is quite the happy, unplanned accident!  And yes, this is my first ever Aneela Hoey! don't ask what took me so long!

And some Premium Kona Bleached Muslin to go with this fun bunch...

I can't wait to show this one off :)

Here's to a happy week!

Finish 1...Gingham Pinwheels!

This is a surprise!
All of a sudden, it's done!
As I was quilting my Honey Honey quilt, this sweet couple from Kentucky, who are expecting their first baby, kept coming to my mind.  Both sets of their parents are friends from our former church.
After a fun, impromptu telephone conversation with the Momma-to-be's Momma, I was inspired to turn this little guy into a full-fledged baby quilt!

 Why not?!
I originally made this, wanting to play around with the "streamer" effect, but beyond that it was just a little nothing/something taped to my wall
I have a couple more ideas using these funny little half pinwheels.  They make me think of string piecing HSTs...my favorite.  They make me smile. I think I made them up myself... at least I've not seen them before!

The nursery, I found out, is light green...hmm, the green gingham I just got for a different quilt...that works!
It also just so happens, I had some light green fleece leftover from this quilt, for the back!
You can't see the "ditch stitchin"..it is in big zig-zags, all in one direction, a couple straight lines in the border.
I was feeling my lack of fmq ability on this one, big time!
I tied some happy yarn in each of the corners to add a little color.
I think it is sweet!

It finishes at 36" x 36"
The ginghams are a "rolie-polie" from Riley Blake
Pop this in the mail Tuesday, and it might just arrive before the baby does!

smuggled some polka dots in on the label :)

edited to add:
How is that for a perfect match?

All Right...I'm In !!

Thank you, once again, to Carla at LollyQuiltz, for inviting me out of my comfort zone! Her sweet "join me, won't you" is so hard to refuse! I know it will be fun, she hasn't mislead me yet!
The first time I accepted an invitation from Carla, it was back in 2011, when she opened my eyes to the (Fall) Bloggers Quilt Festival at Amy's Creative Side.
This time  it is the Finish-A-Long 2014 with The Littlest Thistle!

I do have several projects that are lingering, but several that are on the front burners and I just know I can finish them, kick starting my hopes for many finished quilts for 2014!
Here they are:
1. My Kate Quilt...(what else can I call it?) Honey Honey has been the root of more fabric obsession than I care to admit...and Ms. Spain is back of it all :) And Honey Honey/TraceyJay Treasure Boxes is just too much of a mouthful!

2.  Super Surprise, I can't tell you the name because it would give it away Quilt!  This one has been simmering in my mind for 2 years...ordered the remaining essential fabric yesterday (appropriate squeal noise here!) Maybe the picture gives it away...that's okay because it is going to be GREAT!
3.  Gingham Pinwheels  This started out as an experiment and I refuse to let this cuteness languish...it is small now, but I think March is enough time to make it a bit bigger, and I have some gingham jelly roll left :)

4. Happy Healing Quilt a sweet little something for my Mother-in-Law, while she recovers from a tumble she took right before Christmas.  I can't even show you the main fabrics for this one...ordered them yesterday, too...super super excited because they are so perfect!  I know you will think so too!!! This is a picture of what I may use with them, or may not(don't you love a little suspense?!)
the rules clearly state that pulled fabric and a pattern count as a WIP :) this will be so sweet!
So there  are my first quarter projects, all lined up for me to see!
This should be fun, and productive!
Thank you Carla, for your irresistible encouragement :)

Honey Honey + TraceyJay

= Treasure Boxes...finally!!!!!
when did I get these? last Summer? Spring? I don't know...I've had them awhile:)

HSTs!

I am lovin' this!

thank you Kate Spain!!!!

This project really brought out the "photo-bug" in me!!!

you don't think I would just let those itty bitty hsts go by the wayside, do you?!

totally random (eyes squeezed shut!) turned out far better than I could do with my eyes wide open :)
now for a backing...hmmm
I finally started this long anticipated quilt the last weekend in December, and the first week of January.  It was soooo cold outside, and this is such sunny warm fabric!  It has proven to be every bit as fun to make as I had hoped!  I have a really cute back planned...hopefully that will be accomplished sooner rather than later :)
I've so been looking forward to this Wednesday's WIP linky party at Freshly Pieced!
Thanks for stopping by!

"Double Dog Sunrise"

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above,
coming down from the Father of Lights,
with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
