A New PDF Quilt Pattern!

Hello friends!
I am popping in today to announce a NEW pattern!
May I introduce "Color Block Plus"!
I designed this quilt for my niece and her fiancĂ© early this year!

I was happy to write up the pattern after a few requests over on Instagram!
I made this version using Moda Grunge in "Peacoat" and "White Paper".
The backing is a Tamarack flannel by Robert Kaufman, mmmm!

The contrast and simple design made it an immediate favorite in my house!
Another Color Block Plus for us to keep was inevitable!
For this version, I used a favorite charcoal paired with a favorite print, from "Outerland", by Erin McMorris.
Also, taking inspiration from one of my pattern testers, Shannon, I improvised from the pattern, making some of the pluses different colors, drawn from the print!
I just love it!

The pattern gives detailed instructions with diagrams for a 60" x 75" generous throw quilt!
I have included a coloring page, along with a page of labels to aid in organizing once you begin cutting and piecing!
The possibilities of color and print options are so fun to explore!  Throw in some texture with Essex linens or shot cottons to take it up even more! Here is a collage of some of the pulls I came up with from my own stash!

I enlisted the help of two wonderful IG quilters to test the pattern and their feedback was indispensable, sharpening the text and clarifying the instructions!
Check out their beautiful versions over on Instagram

Jeanne also has an Etsy shop, Traveling Dye Co., where she makes her hand dyed fabrics available, in bundles of FQs as well as whole cloth pieces of various sizes! She is an amazing artist and friend! Her Color Block Plus is made with her beautiful, vibrant fabrics! The colors just wash over you!

You may purchase the pattern from my Etsy shop, CedarForkStitches,
where it is available for immediate download. I try to minimize your printer ink use by using lighter colors within the pattern. I hope that helps!
I appreciate your support!

Plus Baby!

Number 7 on my Q2 Finish-A-Long list is ready to go!
Little Him was born early, on Mothers Day, even as I was finishing this up!
It was special to be working on a sweet baby quilt on Mothers Day, thinking about Mama! It was extra special then, to find out he had been born that day too!
"Plus Baby", an original design, finished at 40"x40".
The background is Essex Yarn Dyed in Aqua, and the colors are all Rowan Shot Cottons.
When I shared this quilt on Instagram, someone commented that it looked like "a whisper", which I thought was very sweet!
I had such fun coming up with this plus design!
I made the "Us Plus" quilt for this same couple when they were married!
Also out of Essex Yarn Dyed (olive) and the same jelly rolls of Rowan shot cottons!
I used simple straight lines for the quilting.
Such a fun little quilt!

Now that it has stopped raining and our roads have dried, I shall pop this in the mail to them this week!
Welcome, wee one!

"Us Plus" Finish!

My third quilt finish, and Number 4 on my 2018 Finish Along List!

I am calling this quilt "Us Plus"...the design is inspired by newlyweds, and the idea of two lives adding up to one union, and all the colorful promises of that life together.
Ironically, I have finished this quilt just as Cheryl Brickey and Paige Alexander are finishing up the blog hop for their new book, Modern Plus Sign Quilts, which just looks fabulous!
To be clear, I did not make this quilt from the book, nor am I part of the blog hop, but it is ironic to me because I won these 2 shot cotton jelly rolls from Cheryl/Meadow Mist Designs in 2016,
from which, of the myriad of quilt patterns I might have made, I ultimately designed and made this Us Plus quilt, finishing it in perfect timeliness, as their blog hop, on Plus Quilts wraps up!!!  I just really love that, and think it may be a sign I should really go ahead and get that book!  Wouldn't you?!

I have written a pattern for Us Plus, and when it is ready, I will add it to my Cedar Fork Stitches Etsy shop!
In addition to the shot cottons, I used Essex Yarn Dyed Linen, in Olive for the background and binding, and a Robert Kaufman wideback by Valori Wells, Blueprint Basics, for the backing.
I had fun piecing some color into the binding, where squares came to the edge of the quilt!
I quilted straight lines, using colors to match in the Plus sections, and a pretty "linen" gray Coats and Clark for a perfect match everywhere else.
Us Plus finishes at a very tidy
48" x 61"
I think that will be the last Q1 Finish Along item for me.
But I am starting something fun and new, and it will definitely be on my new Q2 list!
The end of the first quarter is coming up so be sure to watch for the linky to open for your finishes, and get your Q2 lists ready!
Happy Spring everybody!
