Easy As...Pie!

This is not an original idea! I borrowed it from Cassandra@TheNotSoDramaticLife who made hers on Pi Day! It is super cute, and when I needed to make a house-warming gift for some friends, I thought this would be fun to attempt!
It was kinda fussy, getting it all figured out...but I prevailed!

Once I had it quilted, the challenge was to find a 14 inch template for trimming!
"fitness gear" or "quilting accessory"?
It's a good thing we work out!
I used a single-fold bias binding for the "pie plate".

I only regret I did not have a large enough piece of the "crust" for a bias crust around the edge, like Cassandra's...
My husband thought it looked like a pizza pie :)
I made up a couple QAYG hot pads to go with it too.
Fabrics are all from Sandhill Plum, by Kansas Troubles...from a big scrap bag I won a couple years ago :)
I think she will like them, and it will be a fun surprise :)

Miss Alissa, if you email me, I would be happy to send you my bits of notes on this...a couple little shortcuts on the strip sets, measurements, etc :) it was super fun, and a satisfying finish!

What I wouldn't give for a piece of my mother's cherry cobbler right now!! Thanks for giving me the memory.

This is so adorable Sarah! I made a pie hot pad once and the recipient really loved it. I need to make more of them, per requests from family. Your friends are going to be thrilled!
