Jewel Toss for Moda Bake Shop!

I am pretty excited to have a second recipe on the Moda Bake Shop!
Jewel Toss was published on Saturday, but I was so busy with my Mom,
who is visiting from Indiana (I know, right?!),
that I didn't even notice it until Sunday!
So please do hop over to the Moda Bake Shop and see what you think!

After a "failed" first attempt with a different collection, it is really gratifying to see this one sparkle just like I had imagined!
this is a Moda photo :)

Brigitte Heitland of Zen Chic pairs "wonderfully soft" with "wonderfully saturated" hues in the most delightful combinations in her newest collection, For You.
If you love color (!) this collection will make you feel like she really did make it just For You, and anything you make will be so pleasing in the process that you will certainly feel self-indulgent!
At least that is how I felt the whole time I was playing with these fabrics!
They really are exuberant!
So, about the pattern....
I have always loved, and wanted to make a traditional Jewel Box quilt.
Half-square triangles and 4-patches assembled in rows "web style", instead of by block made for a pretty straight forward patchwork assembly.

I then combined the patchwork with an assymetrical setting in a field of wonderful Bella Chartruese, for a playful, bright throw!
As I was making it, I was rather gleeful and called it "Happy Salad" throughout the construction process, because the fabrics are so darn delicious, and then the bed of chartreuse...
...well, it made sense at to me at the time :)
I quilted it with a diagonal grid, following the diagonals of the patchwork and carrying them out to the edges.
My self indulgence was boundless as I chose the fabrics for the back...I was not thinking of the sons or the husband when I picked these!
the pink fabric reminds me of kiwi fruit...mmmm :)
Thanks so much to Moda for letting me make and share this quilt with you!

For You ships in August!
