Fall 2015 Bloggers Quilt Festival! Original Design

Welcome to my "booth" in the
Fall 2015 Bloggers Quilt Festival!
Hosted by Amy Ellis @ Amy's Creative Side!
My (only!) entry this time around will not surprise some of you!
 "Prairie Rose Garden"
I made this quilt in September for the Moda Bake Shop using Tucker Prairie fabrics by 1Canoe2

I have made 3 other quilts using this block design, that I "christened" Prairie Rose.
The block design, and name, came about as the result of  playing with some leftover HSTs for a baby quilt...the baby's name was/is Lila Rose, and I live in Prairie country!

The corner HSTs create "stepping stones", scrappy when placed all together, but cohesive with each block.
I was thrilled to have the sweet opportunity to make a whole "garden" of these blocks for the Bake Shop with this amazing fabric collection!
The "stepping stones" are completed around the edges with a simple border.

The one criteria I set for myself when making these Roses was to LOVE each combination of fabrics
in each block, with less eye to the overall composition of colors. With these gorgeous fabrics, I knew I couldn't mess up the outcome!
Some of the individual blocks....

Simple straight line quilting, on the diagonals, and around the primary shapes.

Found you in the Quilt Festival, and yours will be one of my Viewer's Choice nominations. I just love your thorough explanation of coming up with your design. I'm in the Hand Quilting category, FYI. I plan to snoop around your blog a bit. ;)
