Flashy '15 Finale!

A couple of fun finishes and such...to round out the year!
First,  my Simply Sawtooth 2015 BOM quilt is finished! Hooray!!! Completed the day before we left for several days to replace a floor in Bozeman over Christmas. Yep, y'all were playing, my husband and I were a'workin' :) (And having a great time, I might add....)
I LOVE it!
Now that it is finished, I am especially happy with the fabrics I chose and how they were rather randomly chosen throughout the year! Remember, one of the self-imposed guidelines of this BOM was that I would LOVE each fabric...and as I snuggle in it, the payoff of that is wonderfully evident as my eye comes to rest on each wonderful choice :)
Surprisingly, it is the purples that I enjoy the most...Pantone's Radiant Orchid a couple years ago has really stuck with me, I guess...go figure!

I began with the orange "Flower Fields in sunset", from Joel Dewberry's Modern Meadow, as my focal print, and ended up using it as the binding too!

Backed with white fleece, quilted on either side of simple diagonals, it finishes at approximately 60" x 72".

am sew excited to have started and finished it this year!
I think I have plenty of pictures....we're good!

Secondly, I finished my Jelly HST Chevron quilt, first mentioned here!

This began as a "To The Point" pattern, but changed to a simple chevron arrangement once I got to playing with the 6"blocks.

I used my first and only jelly roll for this one, Miss Kate, by Bonnie&Camille. I backed it with white fleece too, quilted in the ditch, and tied in the white strips with my new Valdani perle cotton (from Sunny Day Supply!), binding it with a bias cut black and white gingham. I love it!
55" x 66"
I decided early on as I was constructing this, that I would be giving this to the 6 year old daughter of some good friends back east...it will be a fun surprise for all of them, I hope!

So, of the 4 quilts I had in the queue (I love that, Quilts in the Queue!) 2 weeks ago, 2 are finished and 2 remain to kick start my 2016!
While in Bozeman, I had the chance to wash and dry several of this year's quilts for the first time...oh so much yummier now!

Because of our water, I never wash anything of value here at home...so these have been waiting patiently for laundering since they were made!

After our 4 day job was completed, we treated ourselves to a bit of "apres holiday" shopping....
my first "intentional" LV purchase! Zen Chic, mini charms and 2 yardages :)
No clothes shopping for this girl, lol!
will I ever have enough of Sarah Campbell's Melodies? and Curiosities...George Bun in aqua!
How bout those little jelly thimbles?  Have you seen them, or used them?  At 60 cents a piece, I had to give them a try, what with all the hand stitching ahead for 2016...but that is another post :)

And to top it off, we returned home to find this package of goodies from my Brother-in-law waiting for me! There may have been some peanut M&Ms too...
He has become a bit of a "regular" at Crimson Tate....
While I have been aching to go there in person while in Indiana, it just hasn't happened yet. Thankfully, I am the primary beneficiary of his visits! He really spoils me, actually! All in the name of those alleged birthday pillows I am making him..... ;)

And finally, to round out my "Flashy '15 Finale", a couple of year-end mosaics...
Quilts, large, small, and mini-mini...

Pouches and pillows...

And lest we forget, the pincushions... ;)

I am going to end the year as I started it, linking up with Lorna and Let's Bee Social!
And also with CrazyMomQuilts and Finish It Up Friday!
Wishing you all the happiest of new years! See you there!

These are great finishes! Both of the quilts are lovely. I still have yet to tie a quilt, but it is definitely on my list. Also enjoyed the mosaic. Happy New Year!

Well done on all these lovely quilts! I especially like the Simply Sawtooth quilt, the fabric combination turned out so nicely! I love quilts with a fleece back, they're so much warmer and give an instant feeling of comfort.
And what nice fabrics you have there to play with in the new year! Wishing you good fun with all your coming sewing projects! Happy New Year!

"Quilts in the Queue" LOL We all should start using that term Sarah, :)
It really looks like the fabrics in Simply Sawtooth were meticulously chosen to go great together. Oh my I love that orange binding! Two beautiful quilts to finish up the year.
That is really something about having to wait to wash you quilts in Bozeman. We grew up in an old farmhouse with a well that had water very high in iron and it tended to grey things out after awhile.
"Alleged birthday pillows" aside, your brother-in-law is a real sweetie!
Happy New Year!

A wonderful, cheery and productive finish to your year Sarah (and check out all that white snow!)! I'll be interested to hear how you find the jelly thimbles. It must be difficult to not have water to safely wash your quilts at home. I guess you don't prewash fabric for the same reason.
Lots of fun fabric to start the creative sewing for 2016 - as well as the other two quilts almost finished. I can tell you are surely enjoying the process too.
