Mini May!

Earlier this year, a new quilty friend on Instagram was sweet enough to randomly send me an awesome package, all the way from Germany! It included, among other goodies, a very special Montana Star/Sarah's Choice mini quilt! Who knew there was such a block, wrapped up in those 2 perfect, for me, names!!! You are awesome, Jana @janaguckt!
When it came to making a mini for her, a German/Jana block did not come immediately to mind!
Naturally, what did come to mind was Half Square Triangles, that's right, HSTs! I had hoped to make a mini from a longtime Flickr fave, but it was not to be. However I am quite pleased with the final arrangement!

I also threw in a little Cathedral Windows pincushion, for good measure! I know she likes pink!
That was just the beginning of Mini May!
This darling Charlie Harper cardinal flew along on the outside of the package!
Well, he became the immediate centerpiece of a mini monument to his adorableness!!!
And then, just last week, I was getting ready to send a bird house/barn to an old high school classmate in Virginia. I thought the package incomplete without a little quilted something, right?
Sew, this happened! It started out as a coaster, but grew a bit. (I may find myself making a whole Alison Glass quilt out of this block!!!!)
I think I really just wanted a photo of the shining clouds this morning!
The back :) You probably can't tell, but this fabric is the pearliest of pinks!
Meanwhile, progress continues on  the Sewcial Bee Sampler, with blocks 14, 15 and 16! I modified block 15, which was supposed to be Broken Dishes, and substituted the top block for it. I also remade block 1, on the bottom. This is a fun sew along hosted by Sharon Holland and Maureen Cracknell, both designers for Art Gallery Fabrics.
My husband and I also made 3 more "Bird Barns", as I have taken to calling them!
the middle one is going to Virginia!

I just LOVE all our new tenants! All Tree Swallows, such handsome little birds!

I got out the scissors and glue again! You can find the inspiration and beginnings of my "Kitchen Basics for Quilters" collection here, here and here!

That about wraps up my meanderings for May, sew far!!!

Do you make those birdhouses for sale? They are so cute. Or should I say sew cute? Nice cathedral window pincushion. Great job on all your projects.

All of your project are lovely!! Do you have bird houses all over your garden? They are so wonderful, if I was a bird I'd move in for sure.

Your little quilts are darling, But those decorated bird boxes are amazing. Are the designs painted on? Or cloth glued on? I live in Virginia... by chance are you shipping to me? LOL.
